Fact #144
Overview:
In today’s fact we learn about the term Honeymoon! Mr. Toes teaches us where it really came from and where it didn’t come from.
The Fact a Day:
Did you know that…The Term Honeymoon originated in the 1500’s. The word honey was chosen because of its beauty and sweetness. The word “moon” was chosen because it is said that the first month, which is about the length of a full moon cycle, will be filled with love and happiness. There was also a theory, which has since been debunked, that the term came from the Norse who would drink large amounts of Mead, which is made from honey for the entire first month of marriage!
