Overview:
In today’s fact we learn about Pound Cake! Mr. Toes teaches us why Pound Cake is called Pound Cake.

The Fact a Day:
Did you know that…Dating back to northern Europe in the 1700’s, Pound Cake got its name because the recipe called for 1 pound of 4 ingredients. Flour, Butter, Eggs and Sugar. Hence the name Pound Cake. They’re usually baked in either a loaf pan or a Bundt mold and served with powdered sugar, or lightly glazed with icing. In Britain pound cake is known as “Sponge Cake” or a very similar type of cake with slightly more flour called “Madeira Cake”.
