In today’s fact we learn about Sea Otters! Mr. Toes teaches us about how amazing Sea Otters are.
The Fact a Day:
Did you know that…Sea Otters are very smart. They use rocks as tools to break open hard-shelled prey or to even dislodge prey. In fact, it’s the only mammal other than primates and humans known to use tools. They like to eat while floating on their backs using their chest as a dinner table. They even have a secret food stash where they store extra food that is a loose pocket of skin in the armpit area for transportation while they’re feeding. They like to eat all kinds of sea creatures like clams, urchins, crabs, scallops and even octopus or squid!
