Fact #149

Overview:
In today’s fact we learn about the Stegosaurus! Mr. Toes teaches us where the name Stegosaurus got its name…its kinda goofy.

The Fact a Day:

Did you know that…The Stegosaurus was named by Othniel Charles Marsh in 1877 after fossils were found in Morrison, Colorado USA. Originally, he thought it was a turtle and thought the plates laid flat on its back! So the Greek name “Stegos” means “Roof” and “Sauros” meaning lizard. Putting those together you have Roof Lizard!
